Yes, because out of all the men in the books, Sandor is the scumbag. /snort.
It’s not a contest. Whoever thinks he’s a scumbag has a right to have that opinion. All I ask is that the reason be for something actually done/flaw that cannot be dealt with than something he just didn’t do. Yes, Mycah was killed on orders from the powers that be, but left to his own devices? He threatened Arya verbally when she was being impossible, but he didn’t beat her. He even gave her a dagger at some point. Seemed like he was about to say something kind ot her when she wanted to go back to the Twins to save her dead mother. Brute, yes. But not a complete write-off, and no child abuser.
Well said! Sometimes I wonder if these people read the same books as me…
Me too, and my reading of them was a while ago. But the beauty of art is that you can read anything into them that you want. It says as much about your own psyche as it does about the artist. With the printed word, you can interpret and extract much, but you there is more concrete evidence one way or another for an argument than with visual or audio art, for example. Sandor Clegane simply did not as far as we know beat a child or fuck one. He didn’t even kiss a flowered one (technically a woman then in that era), even if he did frighten her at the time, but she got over it quickly enough to touch his face and have another good instinct on how to handle a visibly shaken, drunk man unaccustomed to giving a shite or having a shite given about him.
Thank you. I was like, “well, he’s kind of a douchebag, yeah, but…child abusing?”
I don’t think a single person would argue with you on the “kind of a douchebag” issue. He’d be the first to admit his shit stinks as highly as the next man’s.
